Strap in! Tom Sanchez (Magnet Theater) is on the show to ruin his brand! A big pop music fan, Tom talks to us about “Flagpole Sitta’” by Harvey Danger, a song he first heard back in high school and didn’t think too much about. It wasn’t until college, after moving all the way from Arizona to Connecticut, that the song took on greater meaning. He describes the moment after his first college improv show when this song came on and he knew he was in the right place.
We talk about trying to find your people, how much harder doing improv was for Tom in college as compared to high school, and how collegiate experiences have benefitted Tom on stage in the real world. Plus, we explore the phenomenon of how liking music ironically can often lead to liking music sincerely. We’ve even got some tidbits in there for all you Harvey Danger fans!
